About Me

About Me

As an Integrative Counsellor I use a range of therapeutic models, tailoring our work to suit your individual needs. Working relationally with a strong focus on creating, respecting and maintaining our working relationship, I provide space and support for you to explore difficult or unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I am a fully insured, fully qualified practitioner, an Accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and a registered member of the BACP.

I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced trauma both in childhood and as adults. My trauma work has been wide-ranging and has included supporting survivors of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

I have also spent many years working within the Arts/Entertainment industry and am passionate about counselling being accessible and relevant to performers and those working in other areas of the Arts industry. As a vocal coach I teach breathing techniques and voice control and am happy to include this as part of our work together if you feel this would be of benefit to you. I have helped many clients to harness the power of their breath, deepening their breath to body connection and awareness and giving them an understanding of the huge positive impacts of such techniques on calming the nervous system, aiding healing. Learning to work with your breath mindfully can assist with relaxation and rest and an increased ability to stay present and enjoy the world around you. Understanding how your body works to support both your breath and your voice, can help you to feel more self-assured and independent.

Personally, I have been incredibly moved by how therapeutic Nature can be and has been to both myself and my existing clients, especially throughout the recent Covid 19 pandemic. I find walking and sitting in nature to be extremely healing and can work with you to help you find creative ways to bring this into our work if you would like. Not everyone has access to an outdoor space but there are many ways we can explore to bring you closer to nature and its many mental and physical health benefits. Learning to consciously make regular contact with the earth, listening to seascapes and incorporating regular grounding techniques, can all assist with managing feelings of anxiety, stress and overwhelm. Learning to grow and nurture even the tiniest of pot plants can improve your self-confidence and autonomy.

Currently I am also supporting those working on the frontline within the NHS through a national charity.

I pride myself in offering an inclusive environment, honouring your background and experiences as they are.
